Lancaster Designer Craftsmen was formed in 1946 as the Conestoga Valley Chapter, Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen (PGC), and is one of the oldest chapters in the state. It is a membership organization which shares the same purpose as the State Guild: “To encourage and promote the Pennsylvania Crafts and Craftsmen”.
Chapter meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month throughout the year at the PGC offices at 335 N. Queen Street (second floor) in Lancaster. The dates and additional information for these meetings are listed on the Meetings & Events page. Chapter meetings include educational/informational presentations, demonstrations, “make and take” activities along with other social activities such as a fall pizza party and a December holiday party. Meetings also provide an opportunity for you to share your current work, have your work critiqued, and to network with other craftspeople. As a member you will receive regular newsletters to keep you informed about current events.
Lancaster Designer Craftsmen artisans have had opportunities to participate in events with local organizations and businesses with whom we have partnerships. We continually strive to pursue and build partnerships with other local businesses and constantly look into other avenues (such as pop-up art shows, partnering with other local art organizations, etc.) to give our membership opportunities to display and sell their beautifully handcrafted works.
On this website, you also have access to view the Member Directory (i.e. to find others who do a similar craft, etc.). Some information is incomplete. Feel free to contact our LDC Board President or Membership Chair who might be able to assist you in making contacts.
There are many ways to become involved in the activities and running of LDC, as well as helping out with local events run by the PGC (our umbrella organization), and we look forward to your participation and input.
Please contact any board member for more information on any of the above activities or events or to share your ideas for the future!
